We've heard from many of you regarding Kodak's Photo CD. You've let us know that you think Nautilus is a great forum for acquiring information about Photo CD, learning about formats, sharing drivers, etc. And we agree! So this month we feature Photo CD in the Multimedia section.
You'll find press releases and images from Kodak, information about popular CD ROM drives and their use with the Photo CD technology, reprints of related articles from past Nautilus issues, Photo CD samples, and graphics viewer tools. Also be sure to see the Letters to the Editor in the Perspectives section for additional suggestions from fellow subscribers.
And speaking of digital images, as you peruse this disc, you'll see a new application of digital video: We're providing QuickTime previews for the Multimedia, Photography, Music & Sound, Entertainment and Software sections. Simply click on the movie icon in the bottom left corner to watch the preview. (Of course, you'll need to have QuickTime installed on your system. See the Software:Stuff from Apple section to acquire the QuickTime 1.5 extension.) We think you're going to like what you see -- certainly let us know!
We'd also like to announce our extended Customer Services hours: from
8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Eastern time. Technical Support hours remain at
8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
If you're one of the music buffs who played our Classical Cwiz recently, you'll find the answers to the Cwiz this month in Multimedia:Music and Sound. We'll be announcing the winners next month.
Also, we've updated the CD ROM Directory -- 50 new titles! You'll find it in the Nautilus Services section.
Finally, in the category of "errata," we would like to apologize to KTVU TV in Oakland, California. Last month, in the Perspectives section, we erroneously attributed the video footage for the Oakland Firestorm essay to KTBU TV.
